British houses


The 90% of the population live in towns .
There are lots of different kinds of houses. This the kind of house you find in British towns. Terraced houses are joined together - sometimes in a long row , but some terraces have only got a few houses.
The semi- detached houses - just two houses joined together. There are ad many semi-detached houses in Britain as terraced houses . 60% of the population live in terraced or semi-detached houses.
Detached houses - there aren't other houses joined on to them .
Lots of people live in flats , especially in big towns and cities.

There are lots of regional variations because builders use local materials. Some houses are very moter and some are hungerds of years old.

A famous traditional saying is" An Englishman's home is his castle". British people spend a lot of time and money on their homes and gardens.
